On November 4th, 2021 the Office of Global Strategies celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright program in an event honoring our Fulbright Scholars and Students. Dr. Duilia de Mello, the Vice-Provost for Global Strategies, gave the opening address. Dr. Mario Ortiz, Fulbright Liaison and Associate Professor of Spanish, then gave an overview of The Fulbright Scholars Program at Catholic University. A piece on Fulbright and Catholic University Students was said by Dr. Jennifer Paxton, the Director of the University Honors Program.
Dr. Jo Ann R. Regan, Dean, National Catholic School of Social Service gave the keynote address. The address, titled, "Fulbright: A Journey of Opportunities" reported on her experience as a Fulbright Scholar in the Czech Republic during the Summer of 2021.
This event hosted the inaugural presentation of the Office of Global Strategies International Engagement Award. Dr. Jandro L. Abot, Associate Professor, School of Engineering received this prestigious award for their work.
Additionally in attendance at this momentous event were current Fulbright fellows at CUA. This includes Professor Viktor Yelenskyi visiting the School of Theology and Religious Studies from Ukraine.
