International health and emergency evacuation insurance is provided for all faculty, staff, students, guests, and accompanying family members traveling abroad for university-related activities. For more information on enrollment, benefits, and claims visit the international insurance webpage. Enrollment is automatic, and upon completion of the Travel Registry form, the Office of Global Strategies will send the registered traveler an insurance card to carry while abroad, usually within one to two weeks of completing the Travel Registry.

Cost

No payment is required for University members traveling abroad under the University's auspices. Accompanying family members will be billed for the cost of their insurance coverage. For more information on rates and billing, contact the Office of Global Strategies.

Safety Precautions

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) within the Department of Treasury is a valuable resource for confirming any potential government sanctions prior to travel. Consult OFAC's sanctions list here.

Students must also enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Plan (STEP) with the Department of State. This connects travelers with the U.S. embassy in the foreign country to receive important updates as well as support in the case of a natural disaster or other emergency. Learn more about STEP here.
